Bespoke Hardwood Dining Tables and Chairs

Paul Bulmer works exclusively in sustanable English hardwoods such as oak, ash, sycamore, beech.

Tables are custom made to fit into a given space and are priced by the running foot ( or diameter in the case of circular tables).

There are four basic shapes of table: rectangular, square, oval and circular.

Guide lines for commissioning dining furniture

Allow about 36" (90cm) all the way around the tables and chairs so that there is space in the room to walk behind people seated at the table.

Allow a generous setting of at least 24" (60cm) for each person.

Settings for rectangular tables

To seat 4 persons comfortably you will need a table
at least 48" (120cm)long x 30" (75cm) wide or 36" square

To seat 6 persons comfortably you will need a table
at least 60" (150cm) long by 33" (85cm)wide

To seat 8 persons comfortably you will need a table
at least 84" (230cm) long by 36" (90cm)wide

To seat 10 persons comfortably you will need a table
at least 102" (260cm) long by 40" (100cm) wide

Settings for circular tables

To seat 6 persons comfortably you will need a table of at least 48" (120cm) diameter

To seat 8 persons comfortably you will need a table of at least 60" (150cm) diameter

Extending tables

Rectangular extending table

There are two extensions which fit onto the ends of the table and store away underneath the tabletop when not in use. Four extra settings may be created by this method.

Circular extending table

A circular top supported on a square base, splits into two sections between which a separate rectangular piece is dropped forming a large ovoid top. This method allows for two extra settings.
